Notes
Scope and Content:
French City Village, built in 1925, is composed of 16 contributing houses, located on the north and south sides of the 1000 block of Hardee Road on Cotorro Avenue and Leonardo Street. The architects, Mott B. Schmidt and Philip Goodwin, were both known for their expertise in French and classical architectural design. The homes on the north side of Hardee Road, designed by Schmidt, have the design of contiguous classic villas with walled gardens and were inspired by 18th-century French architecture. The homes designed by Goodwin on the south side of Hardee, although classic, have a less formal character, with two of them resembling French farmhouses.
