Notes

Scope and Content:
Coral Way and the lush oak trees that line this street are designated historic, considered one of the most beautiful streets in Coral Gables. This roadway runs between Le Jeune Road and Red Road and serves as the main East-West artery. Homes of many noteworthy pioneers were located on Coral Way. Edward "Doc" Dammers, appointed as the first mayor of Coral Gables in 1925, lived in a home located on the northeast corner of Coral Way and Columbus Boulevard. George and Eunice Merrick's honeymoon cottage, known as Poinciana Place, is located at 937 Coral Way. The name Coral Way derives from the coral limestone used to build many of the early homes in Coral Gables.
