Abstract:
The Royal Palm Hotel, built in 1897 by Henry Flagler and torn down in 1930, stretched 680 feet (210 m) along the Miami River's north bank. A verandah surrounded the hotel, about one-sixth of a mile in length. This postcard shows a leisure time in the veranda of Royal Palm. People were nicely dressed. Some were sitting on the rocking chair or on the stairs. Some were reading alone and others were chatting with each other.
