Notes

Scope and Content:
French Normandy Village, also known as French Provincial Village. Designed by architects John and Coulton Skinner, the unique enclave was constructed in 1926. The architecture is reminiscent of the French provinces of the 15th and 16th centuries. Architectural elements include the chocolate brown half-timbering on light-colored stucco, gable roofs, and dormers. The horseshoe shape of Alesio Avenue, Viscaya Court, and Viscaya Avenue intersects with the 3600 block of Le Jeune Road and adds to the charm of this historic village. Only 11 of the 71 planned units were built. In the 1930s, the University of Miami used the buildings for men's dormitories.
