Group of people standing outside the Boynton Florida East Coast Rail station amid crates of tomatoes, under a sign for "Western Union Telegraph Co, Telegraph and Cable Office." Man holding ledgers is Charles W. Pierce (1864-1939); seated on the crates wearing a straw hat is his young son, Charles Jr. (1896-1966), and the woman seated on the platform is his wife, Yallahs Wallack Pierce (1873-1921). Man with the cane on the far right is "Schrader," and the man behind the young boy is "Schrader's partner Honus." Man standing in the mule cart at the far left is Oscar Magnason. Historical note: Charles W. Pierce was a barefoot mailman, postmaster, and Boynton community leader. His memoir Pioneer Life in South Florida was published posthumously, and in 1981 he was named by the Florida Department of State and the Florida League of Cities as a "Great Floridian."
